HOW TO AUDITION
Every director is a little bit different, and therefore every set of auditions is a little bit different. But we'll try to lay down some of the basics below.

Most of the time we will ask you to bring a resume (if you have one) and a picture for the director to keep. We will ask you to fill out an audition form when you arrive. Please bring your calendar with you to auditions. it is important that you list any conflicts that you will have with the rehearsal and performances on your audition form.

For a musical, many directors will ask you to prepare a short piece of a song. 16 bars or measures should suffice. Pick a song that you like and that you feel really comfortable with. Also, pick a song that shows of your voice. You will usually have to dance for an audition, too. It is a good idea to bring or wear clothing that you can move in.

For non-musicals, directors will often times ask you to read from the script or improvise scenes (make a scene up on the spot). Occasionally we will ask you to prepare a short 1 - 2 minute monlogue or poem. For non-musicals, it is still a good idea to wear or bring clothes that you can move in.

Auditions can last anywhere form 1-3 hours. Much of it depends on the size of the show and how many young people show up. It is usually a good idea to bring a snack, and a book or a personal radio.

In the space below we will be listing more specific audition requirements for each show. Check back for details!
